Video & Film Transfer to DVD Services

A lot of questions about taking still pictures of individual frames of 8mm, Super 8 & 16mm movie film.
Yes, it can be done! Using VLC media player, you can click on the 'video' tab and then 'capture freeze frame'. If you are using a mac, simply hold the 'apple key' (command) hold shift and hold 4 all at the same time & then a 'bulls eye' comes on the screen and you simply drag around the frame paused on your player and then let go, that saves to your desktop! Upload to Facebook, email and even create a lovely slideshow like a customer of ours below! The quality of our frame by frame transfers really shine on the stills!

Note from Larry via YouTube:

Dear Got Memories.
Thanks to your quality transfer I was able to pull or create so many wonderful photos from our restored 8mm movies. These are photos we never had before. While there is some (natural) film grain the images really pop!
The link below is proof of that! Thanks again, Larry Tocci

Below are film transfer samples from 16mm, Super 8 & 8mm movie film. The conversion was frame by frame, the ages of the film range from 1962 to 1952. As you can see, with Got Memories frame by frame film scanning, color correction and image enhancement services, the quality of the movie looks absolutely stunning!

Please let us know if anything has been less than a 5 star service across the board.
We will make it right! Please remember to leave feedback, a lot of people forget!

Just a side note about eBay politics and the insane rating system that is hurting small businesses.

It's a billion dollar company vs the little guy.
We take pride in what we do and our feedback means everything to us.
One .001% of a slip and eBay unfairly yanks the carpet from under us.
Costs us multitude of features, raises rates and search rankings.

We are 99.5% positive and that's not enough for eBay.

Importing DVD .vob files into PC editing programs are pretty straight forward. But if you own a Mac, which more and more people are switching to, you can not simply import the DVD as is. This video here we've created shows you, with free software how to work around the issue with zero loss in quality. Video below. You can download the program free HERE (watch video first)

If you don't mind spending a few dollars, this will save you TONS of time, use DVDxDVPro. The best out there, because you don't import the whole DVD, just the clips you wish! (It's how I personally edited my own 130 hours of home movies down to 2hrs!) You can try the software for free by clicking HERE. Use the Gotmemories.com coupon code if you decide to buy 45K2D4632E

You can make money off of your old films.

Most everyone has old home movies that are enjoyed on special occasions, family reunions, Christmas parties, etc. We watch them to remember how things used to be or to revisit someone special that is no longer with us. Some of these film reels have no sound, such as the 8mm films our dad's took before microphones were attached. Others are videotapes that may have been sitting around in the attic for many years. Whatever the form, they are very important to us. We hold them dear as they are the clearest, most truthful memories we have.

Video Tape Degradation

Posted in Blog by gotmemories

Have you ever heard of 2 inch quadruplex? How about Betamax? If you are over forty you probably heard of Betamax. Both are videotape formats that are basically the same as the “tape” that is in all of those old VHS tapes you have boxed up. You know the ones. There are little Becky's first words, Steve's first steps, the wedding ceremony of your oldest daughter, even great grandma at her last birthday party before she passed away.

Edit Your Videos For Free!

Posted in Blog by gotmemories
A lot of people ask if we have an online video editor. They've seen other companies
offering an online editor for a limited trial or subscription base after a certain amount of time.
Answer is no, we just give you the direct link to the company they are using, which
are companies just like jaycut.com. They embed it into their site, it's hosted through Jaycut
and the xyz company charges you $X a year, meanwhile, go straight to Jaycut and use it for free!

Who said there is no such thing as a free lunch? Well, there might not actually be a free lunch, but there certainly is a free website to do some intense editing of those new digital videos that you had made from all those old home movies. The place is JayCut, and it is just the thing for the aspiring director who wants to take the family digital videos and turn them into the next Oscar winner. Okay, maybe an Oscar won't be waiting in the wings, but the joy of being able to be your own Steven Spielberg for the family videos is fun.

A Quick Review of Qik

Posted in Blog by gotmemories
Qik.com Reveiw

Qik Is Way Cool!

You just have to go to www.qik.com. That is if you have a modern phone that is video capable, and if you have an unlimited data plan. Why? Well I'm going to go right ahead and tell you!

Qik is a software application (app) available for smartphones such as the iPhone and Android, but they also have apps for a whole bunch of other phones. I downloaded one for my Motorola Q9h which is ancient when compared to the latest and greatest phones that are available.

Do you remember the Kinetoscope?

Posted in Blog by gotmemories
Kinetoscope Collage

Thomas Edison registered over 1,000 patents during his illustrious inventive life. The light bulb is one of his most notable inventions. However, he is responsible for many other products including the phonograph. Once he developed a method to replay sound; he turned his attention to motion pictures.
