The Got Memories Difference

Posted in Blog by gotmemories

What sets Got Memories apart from the competition...these are your one off memories, in this video
are the topics and questions you should be asking from a company you are going to trust with your life!

The number one concern we hear from our customers is that they have a single copy of their precious home movies. They want to know who is doing the work, what the interior looks like, are they professional, safe, clean, organized, not going anywhere, and are using the right equipment to do a quality transfer?
We want to give you complete peace of mind by showing you the clear difference between Got Memories versus the vast array of film transfer and video companies out there competing to convert your home movies. You will not find a video like this on any home movie transfer companies website, period.
We are passionate about service and quality, and that passion is reflected in the time taken to produce these videos. We are very proud of how we do business.
We listen to our customers and in return we have made a video like this so you can feel safe and secure that your precious memories are taken care of in an organized, clean, professional work place with passionate people treating your memories like they are our own!

If you do a search for film to dvd transfers, or vhs to dvd on Google, you are going to come up with over 3 million results. This video will go over some areas to look for in a company, that you are going to trust with your home movie film and video tapes. Some areas of this video will cover how we process your orders into our computerized online tracking system. How we seal and pack your media once in our location so we know exactly where your home movies are at every step of the process at Got Memories. The video will also cover footage of how other companies operate, which is 90% of the time in complete anonymity, working behind closed doors and verbal descriptions of processes on websites, with no actual footage of their facility, equipment and processes of exactly how they are converting film or video. The reasons being are due to consumer grade, unprofessional methods. Here at Got Memories, we take immense pride in our facility and how we transfer film & video tape. If you are local in Phoenix, we welcome tours and sample transfers, as you'd instinctively expect from a home movie transfer business.
Thank you again, and remember if a video transfer company can't produce a simple video on their facility & how they convert film & video tapes, I think you should wonder why?

Movie film projectors can ruin film

Posted in Blog by gotmemories
If you run your 8mm, Super 8 or 16mm movie film through a projector, you do run the risk of damaging your film. Here is a video showing you regular 8mm film with damaged and stripped sprocket holes caused by a 8mm projector picked up via an auction site, note this section of film with this many missing sprocket holes can not be converted.

The way we do business at Got Memories is very, well, open, honest, and 2011 standards.
The way most film transfer companies share information about how they transfer film is, well, very secretive and closed off. That may have worked in the 1980's, but in 2011 with YouTube, social media and the likes, people are talking, chatting and the power is shifting to the consumer big time. Review sites, video sites, it's all out there, people are getting educated and not trusting face value from web 1.0 tactics from the owners. On gotmemories.com , we are creating more educational content that is real and valuable to everyone. It's easy to come up with content, it's easy to make a video and put it online for the world to see that can call BS, or GREAT! It's in your hands!

The power is turning in favor of the consumer (yay, because I'm one too!) So the days of film transfer companies not disclosing their transfer methods to the public for fear of someone stealing their 'equipment technology' that story is ' Sooo 1988 ' time to fess up and
disclose exactly how they are converting film. On our previous blog we showed pictures of setups that we have found from individuals and companies alike. Here we have exclusive footage that was given to us by a former employee of a film transfer company that we shall not name. This video shows exactly what we warn people about: A fancy website with a location 1000miles away from you projecting onto walls.
There are right ways and wrong ways to transfer 8mm, Super 8 & 16mm movie film. This is definitely not the correct way.

A lot of questions about taking still pictures of individual frames of 8mm, Super 8 & 16mm movie film.
Yes, it can be done! Using VLC media player, you can click on the 'video' tab and then 'capture freeze frame'. If you are using a mac, simply hold the 'apple key' (command) hold shift and hold 4 all at the same time & then a 'bulls eye' comes on the screen and you simply drag around the frame paused on your player and then let go, that saves to your desktop! Upload to Facebook, email and even create a lovely slideshow like a customer of ours below! The quality of our frame by frame transfers really shine on the stills!

Note from Larry via YouTube:

Dear Got Memories.
Thanks to your quality transfer I was able to pull or create so many wonderful photos from our restored 8mm movies. These are photos we never had before. While there is some (natural) film grain the images really pop!
The link below is proof of that! Thanks again, Larry Tocci

Below are film transfer samples from 16mm, Super 8 & 8mm movie film. The conversion was frame by frame, the ages of the film range from 1962 to 1952. As you can see, with Got Memories frame by frame film scanning, color correction and image enhancement services, the quality of the movie looks absolutely stunning!

Importing DVD .vob files into PC editing programs are pretty straight forward. But if you own a Mac, which more and more people are switching to, you can not simply import the DVD as is. This video here we've created shows you, with free software how to work around the issue with zero loss in quality. Video below. You can download the program free HERE (watch video first)

If you don't mind spending a few dollars, this will save you TONS of time, use DVDxDVPro. The best out there, because you don't import the whole DVD, just the clips you wish! (It's how I personally edited my own 130 hours of home movies down to 2hrs!) You can try the software for free by clicking HERE. Use the Gotmemories.com coupon code if you decide to buy 45K2D4632E
